Biography - B8 Mary Ellen Glenn.
|Born on 18 March 1878 at 109 Charles
Street in Leeds, Yorkshire, England Mary Ellen was the
second child of A2 Thomas and Mary Glynn. Mary Ellen was
named for her paternal grandmother, mother and mother’s
sister Ellen Cooney, but was known within the family as
May (1881 Census) and Marie. Marie came to the US as a
very young child with her mother, aunt and two brothers.
She married Samuel Inman (born circa 1881 in Illinois) sometime in the early 1900s and they had seven children. Samuel and his father owned the Inman Box Company in Kansas City Missouri.
Their children were Helen born circa 1902 – clearly noted as being adopted in the 1910 Census, Samuel Glen born circa 1907, Thorne F born 15 February 1909, Edna (Uldene) born circa 1910, Cornelius (Connie) born circa 1915, John (Jack) born circa 1918 and a child who died at a very young age on 21 June 1916 and is buried at Mount St Mary’s Cemetery.
At the time of her father’s death in 1922 and up until her own death in 1928 Marie was living at 2641 Victor. Marie died at the relatively young age of 48. She had been suffering from diabetes for four years but died at home of acute myocarditis at 7.20pm on Tuesday April 10th 1928. She was buried at Calvary Cemetery on 13 April. As the wife of a well-known businessman her death was reported in the Kansas City Times the very next day:

Mrs. Marie H Inman, 48 years old, died last night at her home, 2641 Victor avenue. She is survived by her husband, Samuel Inman, president of the Inman Box Company, two daughters, Miss Uldene Inman of the home, and Mrs Earle D Lewis, 2742 Bales avenue, four sons, Glenn Inman, Thorne Inman, Connie Inman and Jack Inman, all of the home, two sisters Mrs Connie J Duggan, 2516 Monroe avenue and Mrs Joseph M Hardy, 1002 Norton Avenue and three brothers, John W Glenn, 3008 East Tenth street, James B Glenn, 1311 Prospect avenue and Edward H Glenn, 3717 Windsor avenue.
Her obituary in the newspaper read:
INMAN – Funeral services for Mrs Marie H Inman, who passed away Tuesday evening, at the age of 48 years, at her home 2641 Victor, will be held Friday morning at 8.30 o’clock from the home, and at 9 o’clock from the Annunciation church, Linwood and Benton.
